Change the skill cost back!
This is purely ridiculous! Now, at my 15th skill point, i am spending 475 where i used to spend 150. 17th point, 625 where i used to spend 170. How on earth is this EASIER to obtain skills. I don't see it. Sure, 1k cap, but there's faction now for unlocking skills. All i suggest is that Anet, would you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS SSSEEE PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP CHANGE IT BACK? Come on, it's just ridiculous, i don't have the most money, actually so far i've spent about 5-6k purely on skills since this update, for 2 characters. Neither of them have gotten past the desert. I spent around that much beforehand on about 10-20 chars, mind you, i unlocked a damn lotta skills. Just change it back Anet, don't balance it with faction, cos faction is so easy to earn.
Pretty pwease?

Yeah, the search button works for about 2 pages back. Any further than that, and i'm ressurecting a dead thread.
But, i'm talking about changing it back to what it was. I don't care about skill points or anything, i just want to see it back how it was.

No, I like to save my money for fun weapons, not waste it on skills.

You just play the damn game and get the skills via the quests. And it's not like 1K per skill is a lot of money.

If you could keep getting skills that easily then everyone would have every single skill unlocked, which poses no challenge.
Not only do I think they should keep the prices...
But they should "re-lock" everyones skills again due to those who unlocked so much before that update and let everyone unlock at the same rate. Not really fair to those who joined after the update.

That's the dumbest idea ever. I've ben playing since release day, and you think I should have to unlock everything since then?

Actually it is fair. People who joined first gets to experience all the original features. They get to see everything that were nerfed, updated and removed because they were there. That is pretty much one of the best rewards from playing from the beginning.

i agree faction is much easyer to get , but in a way , i agree that pvp needs more skills then pve , so being faster to get makes sence imo ... and since you cant use unlocked skills with faction in pve ... the expencive skills in pve just makes the game longer ...
in a way its people foult this is like this , i remember people saying " this game is so easy , so fast , bla bla bla ... now there you have it ! if you want skills for you pve char , go help others in early missions.
my ele have 1.5 million experience atm , and still dont have all skills for all professions on him , like i want ... gold is not really a problem for , can make 1 k preaty fast .. the problem now is experience .. i need to " farm " experience to get skills points to buys skills ...

Kinda funny..since this actually benefited me, since I was paying around 950+ gold for the last few skills with my W/Mo with the last system.

The old system was a benefit for everyone. I now have a lot more trouble getting skills that i need even just so far as HoD. I'm lvl 16. I just spent about 3.5k on my previous set. Farming is not desirable, and Anet doesn't encourage it. I don't have money. On about 4 skills i lost about 3k. It's just ridiculous. I'm not here to unlock. I'm playing because i can, and i want to, but i don't wanna hve so much damn trouble for a few simple skills.

This might get a little complicated in the coding, but how about a compromise:
Since each character can learn every skill in the game, have each class skills increase at the current rate individually. This way, when and if you change your secondary late in the game, the new skills are not costing you 1k per skill. This would also apply to the initial two classes.
Also, for the one who suggested just doing the quests to get the skills, obviously, you cannot get all of your skills this way, and good luck capturing all the ones that are not quest rewards. AND, once you change your secondary, you cannot go back and redo the quests again for the new secondary skills.
Now, for my example:
A Monk/Warrior starts buying his skills. First Monk skill costs 100g (or whatever), regardless of how many Warrior skills you have already bought. Same for Warrior skills. Later in the game, you change to a Monk/Necro. You have all the Monk skills now. Your first Necro skill costs 100g.
As I said, the coding may get tricky (not being a coder, I have no idea).
Finally, for the ones saying that you can unlock every skill in the game and that would unbalance things, remember that to unlock a skill requires cold hard cash and SKILL POINTS! The cash is easy to get. At 15k XP a pop, have fun getting 600 skill points.

I doubt that they unlock every skill for just one character. Across an account it's quite easy. My primary account have every skill for every class unlocked, all through PvE. Even only using 3 PvE characters it's not hard to unlock virtually every skill and use faction to unlock any remaining.

Around that number, and 15 elites per class.
My advice to you is stop complaining, play (or quit), and save every bit of money you can, including picking up every piece of junk you can find on the ground and selling them for 20 gold each to the merchant.

Oh, you're right. Game updates have only screwed people who started playing later than the rest of us. It's not like the old system allowed skills to cost more than 1000 gold. Or skill quests that were added over a month after release, screwing people who bought out of precious skill points (keep in mind the "old" exp gain made it increasingly difficult to aquire skillpoints). Or people who used SoC on skills before they fixed it so that SoC actually unlocked the skill for the account. Let's not forget my favorite, where switching secondaries to ranger and completing Endangered Species quest required you to purchase one of the skills that was granted as the reward. Did we get compensation? No.

OK, really, how many skills do you need?
I understand people's desire to unlock EVERY skill, but really, do you need every Elementalist Glyph or every Mesmer Mantra for example?
Only get the skills you need. And if you think of a build later that needs extra skills, you have two choices:
Spend 1,000 gold (even I, with a lame 25,000 Gold balance can afford to buy all the skills I want!).
Earn Faction. (This is what I've been doing lately... I make a build, play it for awhile, get bored, buy new skills with the faction I earned, play new build, repeat).
I love GW because you are never forced into one course of action. There are always options to get what you want.

Well, i agree with the fact that Anet prefer PvP char! I have 6 PvE char and to be able to have all PvP build its amazing the cost it induces!! For example, for a primary Ranger you must get the elemental line, then the necro line then the mesmer line and all these littles skills cost 1K!! Why don't reset the cost for the skills when the character change his second profession?? Thats will be a fair thing! And at least a little improvement!
